IMS is one of the most debated architecture for the telecom industry. Demonstrations at trade shows and new technologies and market projections are being announced on a weekly basis. However, so far commercial launches have been timid for several reasons, one of them being the lack of compelling IMS applications.
“IMS is the way to go for the future, there is not doubt about that in the industry,” says Rafael A. Junquera, Tele-medios editorial director. “But, before service providers commit to IMS there are several challenges that need to be overcome and not all of them are related to IMS per se.”
